MacEwan University Library invites applications for a full-time limited term librarian for a term extending to June 30, 2020. This position based at the John L. Haar Library (City Centre Campus) will commence late August. Serving a diverse community of learners, the ideal candidate will be public service oriented, proactive, and collaborative, with a genuine interest in and commitment to student learning. A member of a dynamic team of professionals, the incumbent will participate in the development and delivery of services including reference, information literacy instruction, faculty liaison, and collection development. The successful candidate will be a member of an instructional team that delivers information literacy programming to first year English classes.
The successful applicant will engage in outreach, building relationships with faculty members and the more than 3,300 full-time students, including over 400 international students in the School of Business. This position is responsible for delivering library liaison services to a variety of program areas including those in the Department of Decision Sciences and the Department of International Business, Marketing, Strategy and Law. The incumbent will have an opportunity to serve on Library and University committees, engage in professional development and scholarly activities, and participate in various projects and initiatives that advance the Library’s vision and mission.
- Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA accredited program is required
- Postsecondary education or library experience in the areas of business, commerce, or marketing is considered an asset
- Minimum of one year of professional experience preferably in an academic library providing services including faculty liaison, information literacy instruction, and collection development
- Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team environment
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong presentation and teaching skills
- Experience with learning management systems and other online instruction delivery modes
